Sioux City - Jane Marie Ortmann, 60, of Sioux City passed away Sept. 19, 2013 at a local hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, the family will be present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Jane was born on June 9, 1953, in Remsen, Iowa, to Raymond and Agnes (Freking) Waldschmidt. After high school, she attended Patricia Stevens Finishing School in Omaha.
She was united in marriage to Philip Ortmann on Aug. 3, 1974, in Remsen. They lived in Omaha for a few years before moving to Sioux City. Jane worked at Mercy Medical Center doing clerical work. She most recently worked at Mid-Sioux Opportunity.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She enjoyed walking, hiking, swimming, gardening, traveling, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Jane was a very understanding woman who enjoyed the simple things in life.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Philip; children, Kevin (Amy) Ortmann, Chris (Beth) Ortmann, and Jason Ortmann, all of Sioux City; grandchildren, Ann Marie, James, Rachel, Alivia, Adyson, and one on the way; brothers, Jerry, Tom, and Jim Waldschmidt; and mother-in-law, Eileen Ortmann.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sr. Shirley; a brother, Dave; and father-in-law, Joseph Ortmann.
