Janice Lee Barnes

Janice Lee Barnes, 72, of Sioux City, Iowa died Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. Memorial Services will be 6:00 Tuesday, May 5 at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Janice was born August 15, 1942 in Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of Pete and Arlene Mertz. She married Jerry Barnes on December 23, 1960. Together they made their home in Sioux City. Jerry died April 1, 2005. Over the years, Janice worked as a Nursing Assistant. She enjoyed playing bingo, knitting, reading and doing scratch tickets.
Janice is survived by two daughters, Robin Scott and significant other, Robby Myers of Sioux City and Becky Venegas and significant other Dan of Sioux City; a son, Jerry Barnes of Sioux City; son-in-law, Ervin Scott Jr., many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Marsha Beldin of Onawa, Iowa and Norma (Gary) Pelton of Sioux City, Iowa; a brother, Russell Squibb of Onawa, Iowa.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; 2 sons, Randy and Rick; a daughter, Melinda; great-granddaughter, Sayvaya Larson; several brothers and sisters.
