Janice Seward (Jones)

Janice Seward, 75, of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at a local hospital.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. today at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Janice was born on March 30, 1938, to Maurice and Elvera (Swanson) Jones Sr. She was a proud member of Central High School class of '56 and was very active with the reunion committee.
She was united in marriage to Jerry Seward on Aug. 7, 1959.
Janice was a member of Morningside Reformed Church and continued as a member of its successor, Sunnybrook Community Church. Her activities included Sunday School, choir director, kitchen coordinator, and Bible class with her best friend, Jean Pierce. She loved catching up on the latest gossip with her birthday group, fellow Explorer fans, square dancers club, and her many wonderful friends and neighbors. Janice was very active with the Lioness Club for many years. Her hobbies included reading about health, nutrition, and religion and collection owl paraphernalia. She enjoyed handing out candy at Halloween and listening to a wide range of music from Tina Turner, Willie Nelson, to Yanni. She would also secretly watch HSN and World Wrestling Federation. Janice loved animals, especially her grandpets including her latest, BJ of Canyon, Texas. She also loved the many vacations she took with her family.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Kevin Seward of Pendleton, Ore., and Kim Seward of Canyon, Texas; brother, Craig Jones of Lincoln, Neb.; and the innumerable friends and acquaintances she loved and cherished.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Maurice "Bud" Jones Jr., and Doug Jones.
Memorials may be made to her favorite local charities, Hospice of Siouxland, Food Bank of Siouxland, The Gospel Mission, and Wildlife Lodge and Clinic.
