Jean "Jean" Schreiber (Spakosky)

SIOUX CITY -- Beverly "Jean" Schreiber, 77, of Sioux City passed away peacefully Monday, April 12, 2010, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Daniel C. Guenther officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7:30 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Jean was born Aug. 5, 1932, in Sioux City, the daughter of John and Beulah (Smith) Spakosky. She graduated from Heelan High School in June 1950 and attended the National Business Training College.

She married Lawrence M. Schreiber on May 1, 1955, in Sioux City. She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. She was employed as an underwriting support specialist for Great Western Casualty Co. for 38 years. She retired on March 3, 2006.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, and spending time with her grandkids. She was a very special person, who touched many hearts.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence M. Schreiber of Sioux City; two sons, Mike Schreiber and his wife, Angie of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Greg Schreiber of Tempe, Ariz.; three daughters and their husbands, Terri and Mike Law of Sioux City, Suzanne and Don McElroy of Omaha and Laurie and Brad Sorensen of Waukee, Iowa; five granddaughters, Ashley, Andrea and Abby Schreiber, Amy Law and Emilie Sorensen; two grandsons, Erik and Kyle Sorensen; three stepgranddaughters, Michelle Fortner and Jill and Danielle Law; two brothers, Gary Spakosky and his wife, Lorinda of Placerville, Calif., and David Spakosky of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; two sisters and their husbands, Lorraine and Peter Olson of San Francisco, Calif., and Sue and Steve Gould of Eau Claire, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
