Jeanene Book

Jeanene Ann Book, 80 of Sioux City, Iowa died on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at her residence.
Visitation will be on Sunday, Feb. 14 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, located at 3204 South Lakeport in Sioux City, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
A Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Russell Senstad and Rev. David Zirpel officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, IA. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.christysmith.com
Jeanene was born January 17, 1936, in Ponca, Nebraska; she was the daughter of the late William Stallbaum and the late Olga (Stark) Stallbaum. She grew up on the family farm and attended Ponca public schools graduating in 1954. She married Larry L. Book August 18th, 1956 in Martinsburg, NE. The couple had three children: Greg, Terresa, and Gina. Jeanene worked at Physicians Optical and Murphy Finance as well as being a homemaker. They lived in South Sioux City, Sergeant Bluff, and the last 30 years in Sioux City.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, active in choir, LORL and LWML serving in various offices throughout the years. Jeanene volunteered at WITCC helping with the adult reading programs and with children at several Sioux City Elementary Schools. One of her favorite things was to host gatherings for family and friends in her home. Her hobbies included cooking, painting, playing cards with friends, and traveling the world with Larry. She enjoyed visiting different countries and learning about the different cultures. She loved the many trips they took together over the years together. But most important to her, of all things, was her family. She loved spending time with them, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved being called Grandma Jeane by her great grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband Larry Book of Sioux City, a son, Gregory & Linda Book of Sergeant Bluff, IA, daughters Terresa Juhl of Estherville, IA and Gina & Brian Tomoson of Sergeant Bluff, IA; 7 grandchildren: Mindy & Nate Foulk of Sioux City, Nick & Leah Book of Sioux City, Dustin & Jayme Book of Sergeant Bluff, Brandy Juhl & Brian Jensen of Estherville, Matthew Juhl of Sioux Falls, SD, Shelby Tomoson of Sergeant Bluff and Bret Tomoson of Sergeant Bluff; 7 great grandchildren: Noah, Chloe, Ella, Will, Bentley, Hailee and Hazel.
She was predeceased by her parents, brother, John Stallbaum, and sister, Mary Lou Calvert.
