Sioux City, IA – Jeanette F. Pittenger, 78, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2023, at a local hospital in Sioux City, IA.
A visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, April 28, 2023, at Community of Christ Church, 3232 Transit Ave, with a prayer service at 6:30 pm. A funeral service will be 10:00 am Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Community of Christ, with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Jeanette Frances Peck, the daughter of Vernon “Bud” and Frances (Smith) Peck was born December 17, 1944, in Sioux City, IA. She graduated from East High School in 1962.
On January 10, 1964, Jeanette was united in marriage with John P. Pittenger. She worked as a secretary and owned the “Pot of Gold” art gallery early in life. Later, she was a homemaker and mother.
Jeanette was an active member of Community of Christ Church, the PTA, and was a Cub Scout Leader. She enjoyed Tole painting and crocheting. Jeanette would even donate her crocheted works to local hospitals.
Jeanette is survived by her husband, John of Sioux City; her children, Michelle (Rich) Pope of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, Brad (Jennifer Hamman) Pittenger of Sioux City, Matt (Emily) Pittenger of Greene, IA; grandchildren, Blake, Brenna, Max, Katie, Danika, Shelby, Cayden, Cale, Colin, Henry, and Grace; great-grandchildren, Oliver and Theodore; a sister, Barbara (Vince) Bugg of Sergeant Bluff, IA; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Micky and Billy.
