BRONSON, Iowa -- Jeffery King, 47, of Bronson died Jan. 29, 2012 at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton, Iowa, with the Rev. Bruce Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Floyd Township Cemetery, Bronson. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes in Sioux City.
Jeff was born Sept. 6, 1964, in Sioux City, the son of Joseph and Carolyn (Williams) King. He attended school and graduated from Lawton-Bronson High School.
Jeff married Katie Koebernick on Aug. 24, 1985, in South Sioux City. Jeff worked at Sioux Bee Honey for 15 years before becoming assistant building superintendent for Woodbury County in 1998. In 2005, he went to work for Helmerich & Payne International Drilling in Wyoming, North Dakota and Montana until he was diagnosed with cancer in 2010. Jeff worked on the farm through all his years and was even on the tractor until late this past fall.
He was member of Bethel Lutheran Church and was a volunteer with the Bronson Ambulance and Fire Rescue. Jeff loved spending time with his family and following his kids to their sports and events. He liked farming and his Dodge Charger.
Survivors include his wife, Katie King of Bronson; son, Aaron "AJ" King of Bronson; daughter, Tasha King of Bronson; mother, Carolyn King of Lawton, Iowa; father, Joe and Judy King of Bronson; two brothers, Steve and Wendi King of Lawton, and Adam and Michelle King of Omaha; two sisters, Barb Amos of Shawnee, Mo., and Kathy and Joel Polleschultz of Houston, Texas; father-in-law, Terry and LaVerne Koebernick of Dakota City; two brothers-in-law, Doug and Carry Koebernick of Lincoln, Neb., and Mike and Sarah Koebernick of Lincoln; two sisters-in-law, Gloria and Dan Denise of Hawaii, and Tina and Stan Gooch of Illinois; and 15 nieces and nephews, Megan, Clayton, Taylor, Sarah, Lindsey, Ben, Will, Emma, Mason, Madison, Max, Jack, Sam, Jon and Danny.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Marsha Koebernick; and his grandparents, Aaron and Marion Williams and Joe and Hazel King.
