Sioux City - Jeffrey Everett Tasker, 57, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at his residence.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Morningside Presbyterian Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. David Koehler officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City.
Jeff was born on Sept. 18, 1956, in Sioux City, the son of Allen and Eleanor (Everett) Tasker. He graduated from East High School in 1974. He continued his education at Morningside College as a music major and at Western Iowa Tech Community College in the music instrument technician field. Jeff moved to Lake Huron, Mich., for a short time before returning to Sioux City. He moved to the Omaha area and was employed by The Horn Works. Jeff relocated to Memphis in 2012, where he worked for Shelby County Schools as a musical instrument technician.
Jeff was always very active in musical activities. He started playing at Morningside Presbyterian Church choirs and hand bell choirs. He continued his journey with the Siouxland Youth Symphony, the Morningside College Band, the All American Band, the Papillion Concert Band and while in the Omaha area, the Omaha Symphonic Winds and the Civil War Band in Fremont, Neb.
Jeff was a member of Morningside Presbyterian Church. He loved the Iowa Hawkeyes and all kinds of music, particularly the brass sounds of music. Jeff truly loved his family. He was a vital part of our lives and will be sorely missed by all.
Survivors include his father and mother, Allen and Eleanor Tasker of Sioux City; brother, Joel and Laura (Jones) Tasker of Sioux City; sisters, Jill (Tasker) and Tom Lovelace of Apple Valley, Minn., Jean Tasker Yohnke of Denison, Iowa, and Julie (Tasker) and Stan Cox of Sioux City; and 10 nephews and nieces, Tyler and Susie Tasker, Justin Tasker, Katie Yohnke, Brenda Yohnke, Nick Noyes, Emilee Noyes, Christian Noyes, Grace Lovelace, Claire Lovelace and Alex Cox.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Tasker; maternal grandparents, Mary (Roy Everett) and Lawrence Soderstrom; and paternal grandparents, John and Marie Tasker.
Memorials will be directed to music education in his honor.
