Jerold Thomas Brooks, 57, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at his residence.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.christysmith.com .
Jerry was born on Nov. 13, 1956, in Sioux City to Thomas L. and W. Lorraine (Gernhart) Brooks. He graduated from East High School in 1975. Jerry was a dedicated employee at MacArthur Sheet Metal Works in South Sioux City for nearly 40 years. He had the pleasure of working with his father, Tom Brooks, (deceased) for many of those years.
Jerry was an avid gun collector and enjoyed target shooting. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading books and watching Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball. Jerry discovered video games several years ago and spent many, many hours enjoying his X-box and Playstation. Jerry had a special place in his heart for the children in his neighborhood. They had an open invitation to come over to play almost anytime they wanted to.
Family left to cherish Jerry’s memory include his mother, W. Lorraine Brooks of Sioux City; brother, Don Brooks and nephew, Philip of Ida Grove, Iowa; uncle, John Brooks of Sioux City; uncle, James Brooks of San Jose, Calif.; aunt, Mary (Brooks) Trongaard and husband, Craig of Platteville, Wis.; aunt, Jane Brooks of Forsyth, Ill.; and cousin, Daniel Brooks and wife, Sheila of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas L. Brooks.
