Jerry J. Geeron, 87, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, at Hallmark Care Center following a short illness.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Cathedral of the Epiphany. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Jerry was born on Oct. 10, 1927, in Grand Forks, N.D., to Sylvester and Anna (Perius) Geeron. He attended grade school at St. Michael's, and after that he moved with his family to Sioux City. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed on a ship during World War II. After serving, he came back to Sioux City and worked with his father in the Geeron Roofing Co.
He was united in marriage to Ann McCardle at the Catholic Church in Sioux City. She passed away at a young age from leukemia. To that union they had a daughter, Jeriann. Years later he met Olive Todd. They were married in Sioux City and to that union they had another daughter, Kathy. Jerry lived most of his life in Sioux City.
He was a friendly and outgoing person. He was always kind to others, liked to shop at thrift shops and would buy gifts for his family and others. Jerry's Catholic faith was important to him throughout his life. We will miss him.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Jeriann (Tim) Spillane, and their daughter, Sara of Ponca, Neb., and Kathy (Jeff) Eitzmann, and their sons, Derek and Connor of Lincoln, Neb.; brother, Peter Geeron of Sioux City; sister, Ann (Nick) Topf of Carroll, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wives, Ann and Olive; brother, Charles; and sister-in-law, Carolyn.
