Jerry Alton Collins

Jerry Alton Collins, age 79, of Sioux City died Friday March 20, 2020 at a Sioux City hospital.

Per his wishes, Jerry was cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Larkin Chapel, 2320 Outer Drive N, Sioux City, Iowa 51104. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service. The family respectfully asks those in attendance to follow proper social distancing.

Jerry was born on August 24, 1940, in Battle Creek, Nebraska, the son of Walter and Ila Collins. He attended Battle Creek Schools. On March 23, 1959 he was united in marriage with Janice Carol Burg in Sioux City. Janice preceded Jerry in death on May 15, 2019 in Sioux City.

Jerry worked at Nutra Flo for 29 years, then he worked at Domino’s for 17 years and most recently had worked as a greeter at Sam’s Club. He loved to fish and go camping, as well as spending time with his family.

Survivors include his children, Christine (Joe) Casillas, Marjorie (Tim) Morrison, Gregory Collins, Kenneth Collins, Curtis (Tanya) Collins; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; his brother, Dick (Lila) Collins of MA; and his sister Betty, (Gene) Zerkie of Denver City, TX.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Warren Collins; and his sister Marg.
