Jesse Joseph Doll, 41, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel Rupp will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Jesse was born on Oct. 11, 1974, in Blair, Neb., the son of Don "Mike" and Carole (Shald) Doll. He attended grade school in Arlington, Neb., and graduated from Westwood High School in Sloan, Iowa, in 1993. During his school years, Jesse was active with the drama club and choir. He was also active in the Boy Scouts and ventured into the mountains at the Philmont Scout Ranch twice. Two of the highlights of Jesse's life were the birth of his children, Hannah, on June 7, 1999, and Jack, on May 1, 2003.
Jesse started dating Shannon Sovia in July 2015. They became engaged on Dec. 17, 2015, and were planning to be married on May 20, 2017.
Jesse loved fishing, music, the outdoors and was a gifted artist.
Left to mourn him are his children, Hannah and Jack; his fiancee, Shannon Sovia; his parents, Mike and Carole Doll; his grandmother, Myrna Shald; his sister and her husband, Amy and Travis Moyer; his nephew, Chance Gladwin; his nieces, April, Cheyenna and Athlia Gladwin; many aunts and uncles, Francis and Leah Quick, David and Jackie Stanford, Randy and Angie Archer, Rick and Cathy Shald, Doug and Carolyn Shald, and Brian and Sherri Shald; and many cousins and valued friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis Shald and Jack and Donna Doll.
