Jo Ann O'Donnell, 76, of Sioux City died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Daniel Guenther officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to

Jo Ann was born May 10, 1931, in Salix, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Maggie (Mulvihill) Dunn. She was raised in Salix and graduated from Salix High School in 1944. She then attended Business College in Sioux City.
On April 11, 1953, she married Robert J. O'Donnell at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix. The couple made their home in Sioux City. She worked as a bookkeeper for National Foods Company, Wonder Bread, Hayes Order Buyers at the Sioux City Stockyards and for the National Roofing Co. she retired in 1977. After her retirement, she worked part-time as a bookkeeper for the Green Gables Restaurant.
She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She belonged to the I.C. Woman's 500 Club and the Stockettes. She was a former president and currently serving as secretary and treasurer for the Salix School Reunion Committee.
She is survived by her husband, Robert of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Pam and James Brown of Bemidji, Minn.; two sons and their wives, Dick and Tami O'Donnell of Bellevue, Neb., and Ron and Karen O'Donnell of Sergeant Bluff; six grandchildren, Erin Brown, Ryan and Michael O'Donnell and Alicia, Kelsey and Megan O'Donnell; a great-grandchild, Lilliana; a brother and his wife, Edwin and Fern Dunn of South Sioux City; and a sister, Bernice Milligan of Brookings, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Dunn; and three sisters, Frances Luchsinger, Margaret Lines and Pauline Powell.
Pallbearers will be Terry Hansen, Jim Goodwin, Ryan O'Donnell, Michael O'Donnell, James Brown and Paul Oelrich.
