Sioux City - John S. Bunch Jr., 66, of Sioux City died Nov. 11, 2013, at his residence.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
John was born May 27, 1947, in Sioux City, the son of John Sr. and Leshia (Marshall) Bunch. He attended school and graduated from Central High School. John joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served two tours in Vietnam.
He married Dixie Derby on Feb. 20, 1971. Together they made their home in Sioux City. John worked in construction all his life. He was a carpenter at heart. He enjoyed working with wood and making all sorts of things for his family. Dixie died Jan. 19, 2008.
He was a member of George Nelson Post 662 American Legion, Iowa Air National Guard and the Carpenters Union 948. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Michelle and Tim Roth of Terril, Iowa, and Melissa and Ivan Johnson of Bloomfield, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Justin and Brandee Johnson, Brandie and Adam Raub, Johnny Bunch, Reese Roth, Kolton Roth, Arielle Roth and Spencer Roth; six great-grandchildren, Katana, Cambrie, Riley, Abby, Annie and Lexie; two brothers and their wives, Jim and Carol Bunch and Robert and Louette Bunch, all of Sioux City; and a sister and her husband, Eva Mae and Tom Richards of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dixie; and sister, Marsha Criddle.
