John was born Oct. 23, 1935, in Mapleton, Iowa, to John and Muriel (Daniels) Graybill. He moved to Sioux City as a child with his family. They later moved to Dakota City, where graduated from high school in 1955. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army.
He married Freida Taylor in 1957. Four children were born to this union. They were later divorced. In 1978, he married Juanita Jones and moved to Sioux City. Over the years, he worked for Sunshine Foods, Sioux Tools and the USDA as a meat inspector. He retired from USDA in 1995, after 25 years of service.
He thoroughly enjoyed riding his motorcycles and his trips to the Sturges, S.D., rallies. Woodworking was another of his favorite hobbies. He did a lot of World War II research and wrote a book about his dad’s CB years during the war.
He was a great dad to two daughters, two sons and three stepsons. His many grandchildren were so important to him. They will all remember the fun things he did with them and the many lessons he taught them.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Graybill of Sioux City; two daughters, Theresa Hineline of Bellevue, Wash., and Bridget and Gary Harras of Baker, Fla.; two sons, Jeff and Jodie Graybill of Sioux City and Dan Graybill of Rapid City, S.D.; three stepsons, Larry and Becky Jones of Sioux City, Randy Jones of Sergeant Bluff and Mark and Shanna Jones of Sioux City; 21 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ardena Braff of Paso Robles, Calif., and Nancy and Ron Christensen of Prairie City, Iowa; and a brother, Jeff and Ruth Graybill of Norcross, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Chris Jones; two nephews, Steven Braff and Dwight Graybill; a brother-in-law, Charles Braff; and several aunts and uncles.
John was well loved by his family and friends. He will be missed, but we know his pain is now gone and he is walking with the angels.
