Sioux City - John "Jack" B. Longstreth, 82, of Sioux City passed away Jan. 25, 2013, at a local hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Morningside Chapel Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
John was born April 30, 1930 in Sergeant Bluff, to Rex and Gladys (Betz) Longstreth.
He married Marge Moore on April 27, 1949. They raised a son and daughter in Morningside. Jack and Marge were devoted parents.
He worked for Raskin Pack and Sioux City Brick and Tile where he retired. Jack was a handyman who loved working on houses, cars and helping anyone who needed a hand. He especially enjoyed being around his grandkids, sharing coffee at Hy-Vee and spending his summers at Lake Shetek.
Survivors include his son, Scott and Mary Ann; grandchildren, Ryan (Tracey) Longstreth, Jennifer (Brian) Swanger and Jody Stevens; five great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; four great-stepgrandchildren; and two sisters, Trudy Sekera and Bonnie KuyKendall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marge; daughter, Teri; and special friend, JoAnn McKenna.
