SIOUX CITY -- John A. Reich, 70, of Sioux City died Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at his residence.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kenny Hsu officiating. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
John was born Jan. 18, 1940, in Lincoln, Neb., the son of Elmer and Arlene Reich. He was raised in Nebraska and also lived in California. He served in the U.S. Army. He came to Sioux City in 1984.
On April 20, 1986, he married Coleen Schmadeke at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. After coming to Sioux City, he worked part-time at the Sioux City Stockyards and as a transportation driver for the railroad.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He loved horse racing and fishing with his buddy, Jacob.
He is survived by his wife, Coleen; a daughter, Jody Stephens of Duncan, Okla.; a son, Johnny Joe and Cathy of Simi Valley, Calif.; two stepchildren, Dustin Biddle and Dawn Biddle, both of Sioux City; grandchildren, Josh, April, Carrie and Todd; two sisters, Jackie Miller and LeVina Goodro; and nieces and nephews.
