John F. Russom Sr., 75, of Moville passed away Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday at McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville. Visitation will be 5:30 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
John was born on June 3, 1939, in Philadelphia, Pa., to John G. and Caroline (Rentschler) Russom. He joined the U.S. Army in 1957.
John was united in marriage to Rose Stocklein on March 29, 1963. He was a tool and dye maker for RCA and Springfield Machine for many years. He was a very talented metal worker. He lived in several places, including New Jersey and North Carolina, before moving to Moville in 2007.
John enjoyed reading, studying, astronomy and watching movies.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Rose, New Jersey; children, John (Lori) of Moville, Judy (Joey) of North Carolina, Joshua of North Carolina, and Jeremy of North Carolina; grandchildren, Rose (Caleb) Brenden of Mapleton, Iowa, Rebekah Russom of Sergeant Bluff, Benjamin Russom of Edgewater Park, N.J., Elizabeth (JR) Bennett of Asheville, N.C., Jesse (Tiffany Jackson) Wilson of Asheville, Jeremiah Russom of North Carolina, and Ayla Russom of Oregon; four great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Catherine Donahue; nephews, Michael and John Donahue; niece, Catherine McAllister; and his beloved black lab, Clara.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a great-grandson, Arthur Brenden; a nephew, James Donahue Jr.; and brother-in-law, James Donahue Sr.
