Sioux City - John D. Smith Jr., 54, of Sioux City died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. today at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating.
John was born on May 6, 1959, in Sioux City, the son of Jack and Thelma Smith. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Heelan High School. John worked at Swift and Company until his illness.
John loved spending time with his family and lifelong friends, and being a grandpa. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle.
Survivors include four daughters and a son, Wendy LaDeaux, Megan Smith, Melissa Smith, Amanda Anderson, and J.D. Anderson, all of Sioux City; three granddaughters, Allie Swigart, Carlie Anderson and Lillian Saxton; John’s significant other of 20-plus years, Jeree Anderson of Sioux City; three brothers, Gary and Dorothy Donahoo, Howard Smith and Paul Smith, all of Sioux City; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends
He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Mark Smith.
Pallbearers will be Chris Smith, Aaron Smith, Dave Via, Jeff McNaughton, Andy Murray, Kirk Gardner, Donald Wold Jr., Jerry Blackburn, and J.D. Anderson.
