Joseph "Joe" Dean Keller, 39, of Clear Lake, S.D., former Sioux City resident, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, with the Rev. Gerald F. Feierfeil, pastor of the Church of the Nativity officiating. Inurnment of the cremated remains will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Joe was born on Sept. 15, 1969, in Sioux City. He attended Sergeant Bluff and Sioux City Schools. He lived most of his life in the Sergeant Bluff and Sioux City area. In 2004, he moved to Clear Lake, S.D. While in the Sioux City area, he had worked for Wilson Trailer Co. for many years. In Clear Lake, he operated a truck to haul grain and feed.
Joe was an avid golfer and fisherman. When he was younger, he also enjoyed hunting.
Survivors include his father, Henry Keller of Sioux City; his mother and stepfather, Connie and Mike Lander of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Ara and Sue Keller of Sioux City; a sister and her husband, Kelli and Nick Socknat of Sioux City; two stepbrothers, Bryce Lander and his wife, Kristy of Moville, Iowa, and Britt Lander of Lawton, Iowa; a stepsister, Jill Sponder of Sioux City; his maternal grandmother, Irene Ambroz of South Sioux City; many aunts, uncles and cousins; eight nephews; five nieces; a grand niece; many friends; and a special friend, Cindy Tficzer.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Fritz Ambroz; his paternal stepgrandparents, Bernie and Bette Lander; a cousin, Chad Ambroz; an uncle, Chuck Hetrick; an aunt, Linda Fiene; and a family friend, Shirley Zornes.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Small, Dave Petersen, Bill Ambroz, Zach Keller, Beau Socknat, Bryce Lander and Britt Lander.
