Joyce E. Heth, 82, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at a local hospital.
Services will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Joyce was born on May 11, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore and Lena (Piefer) Youngton. She grew up and attended school in Cedar Rapids.
Joyce married Howard Heth on Feb. 18, 1950. She was a stay-at-home mother. Taking care of her family was very important to her. When her children were grown, she worked at Bishops Cafeteria. After Howard’s retirement in 1984, they moved to Texas and lived for more than 25 years in Pharr and Weslaco. Howard died in November 2004. Joyce then moved to Sioux City.
Joyce was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for more than 50 years. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed crocheting and crafting.
Survivors include a son, Stephen Heth of Sioux City; a daughter, Deborah and John Steinhoff of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Dustin Allan of Sioux City, Daniel and Kristen Allan of Omaha, Summer Heth of Fayetteville, Ark., Nicolle and Matt Ertl of Bloomfield, Colo., and Jared Heth of Fayetteville; three great-grandchildren, Brayden Allan, Micah Allan and Macie Allan; a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Wilkey of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; and a great-granddog, Elsa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; and four brothers, Dick, Ray, Ted and Charles
