Joyce Wright, 77, of Sioux City passed away Monday, April 1, 2013, at her residence.
A celebration of life service will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at her residence. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Joyce was born on Nov. 17, 1935, in Sioux City, to Herman and Violet Hintz.
She was united in marriage to Richard Lee Wright Sr. on July 3, 1957. He preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 1994. Joyce and Richard lived in Sioux City most of their married life, except for military duty stations elsewhere. She worked at the Holiday Inn prior to her retirement in 1991.
Joyce loved to play bingo and sew. She was a very caring person and took care of many people. She had been a volunteer at the Food Pantry. Joyce was active in the Greenville Neighborhood Pact, and had served on the committee.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Dorene (Bob) Frasier of Mountain Home, Idaho, Laura Waters of Sioux City, Dahrl (Lisa) Wright of Canton, S.D., Richard Jr. (Chris) Wright of Syracuse, N.Y., Ralph (Robyn) Wright of Le Mars, Iowa, and Darla Wright and significant other, Bill Soule of Sioux City; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; two brothers; a sister; and a grandson.
Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society.
