Sergeant Bluff, Iowa - Judy Kay Heck, 68, of Sergeant Bluff died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 , at her home.
Memorial Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Jewett of New Horizon United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
Judy was born on Sept. 24, 1944 , in Akron , Iowa , the daughter of Harry and Loretta (Wetrosky) Porsch. She was raised on a farm in the Akron-Westfield area. She attended country school and graduated as the class valedictorian in 1962. She was also the senior class prom queen. After high school, she moved to Sioux City , where she worked at a secretary for a financial company. She also worked at I.B.P. on the line for several years. She retired seven years ago.
On July 9, 1994 she married James R. Heck in Westfield , Iowa .
She loved NASCAR, football and the Hawkeyes. She loved her cats and taking care of other people. The most important part of her life was spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, James of Sergeant Bluff; daughter, Laura (Tom) Johnson of Sabula, Iowa; two grandchildren, Stephanie Johnson and Bradley (Brittany) Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Lydia Johnson and Jazmine Edfors; her mother, Loretta Porsch of Sioux City; five stepchildren, Debbie Heck, Kim Schonrock, Mark Heck, Lisa Terriquez, and Paula Heck, 13 stepgrandchildren; many great-stepgrandchildren; two sisters, Jean Smith and Joy Porsch; two brothers, Neal Porsch and Gale (Ha) Porsch; sister-in-law, Karon Porsch; brother-in-law, Bob Heck; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; a brother, Terry Porsch; two brothers-in-law, Darius Smith, and Joe Caskey; and her mother and father-in-law, James and Masel Heck
