Moville, Iowa - Julie Jean Malm, 37, of Moville died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery at Lawton, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are with McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville. Julie was born Aug. 18, 1975, in Denison, Iowa, to Michael and Carole (Petersen) Spreng. She grew up in the Denison and Sioux City areas. She graduated from East High in Sioux City in 1993.
Julie obtained her diploma as a surgical technician from Western Iowa Technical Community College in 2000. She was employed by St. Luke's Medical Center, and later at Pierce Street Same-Day Surgery Center.
She married Scott Malm in 2003 in Sergeant Bluff. The couple had two children, Dylan and Sara. Julie loved being a mom, and spending as much time with her kids as she could.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville.
Survivors include her husband, Scott, and her two children, Dylan and Sara, all of Moville; her mother, Carole (Vern) Wynn of Salix, Iowa; her in-laws, John and Mary Malm of Lawton; a brother, Andy (Lilli) Spreng of Sergeant Bluff; two sisters, Carmen (Michael) Raymond of Des Moines, Iowa, and Kelli Wynn of Sioux City; three brothers-in-law, Drake (Stephanie) Malm of Moville, Kevin (Jessica) Malm of Sioux City, and Corey (Tina) Malm of Lawton; maternal grandmother, Gladys Petersen of Denison; paternal grandmother, Vanetta Spreng of Denison; grandmother-in-law, Ruth Malm of Kingsley, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Spreng; and her grandfathers, Carl Petersen and Elmer Spreng.
