Sioux City - June L. Markowsky, 80, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. today at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with Chaplain Mark Westrich officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service today at the funeral home.
June was born on Oct. 1, 1932, in Sioux City, the daughter of Harlow and Opal (Whitlock) Halverson. She graduated from Central High School.
June was united in marriage to Clifford Markowsky on Oct. 12, 1951. They made their home in Sioux City. June worked as an executive secretary at Armour's Meat Packing Co. After its closing, she went to work at Aalfs Manufacturing in quality control. Her most important job was taking care of her children. June enjoyed making blankets for her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Janis and T.J. Johnson of Vermillion, S.D.; four sons, Rick Markowsky of Sioux City, Tom and Dawn Markowsky of Sioux City, Steve and Jennifer Markowsky of Bellevue, Neb., and Dave and Traci Markowsky of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren, Eric, T.J., Mike, Patrick, Addy, Brianna, Jenny, Taylor, Andrew and Peyton; five great-grandchildren, Evander, Ivy, Atticus, Lennon and Richard; and two sisters, Linda Bjorklund of Colorado, and Sherryann Luft of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Clifford.
In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials be directed to Hospice of Siouxland.
