SIOUX CITY -- Kailey Lynn Nichols, 10, the daughter of Michael and Mandy Nichols of Sioux City, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at Children's Hospital in Omaha.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kevin Lee officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Kailey was born on Oct. 10, 1997, in Sioux City. She was currently a fifth-grader at Whittier Elementary School. She had enjoyed her summer camping experiences at Camp Herkel Hollow near Boone, Iowa. She was attending Morningside Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her parents, Michael and Mandy; a brother, Zachary Nichols; maternal grandfather, Robert Fortune of Sioux City; maternal grandmother, Loydeen and Jim Williams of Lawton, Iowa; paternal grandmother, Kathy Daily of Kailspell, Mont.; paternal grandfather, Dennis Smith of Sioux City; maternal great-grandmother, Violet Corrington of Mitchell, S.D.; paternal great-grandmother, Shirley Nichols of Sioux City; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by three great-grandfathers, Robert Fortune, Jerry Nichols and Sterling Corrington; and a great-grandmother, Dorothy Fortune.
A memorial fund has been established in Kailey's name in care of the family.
