Karen E. White

June 19, 1940 — December 10, 2013

Karen White of South Sioux City, was called to heaven, Dec. 10, 2013, after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Riverside Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Karen was born on March 19, 1940, to Fred and Doris Anderson, in Ponca, Neb. She graduated from Ponca High School in 1958. She went on to attend Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb., and also Stout College in Menomonie, Wis.
Karen married Richard M. White on March 25, 1966, in Ponca. They lived in North Sioux City and raised four children. Karen worked for Metz Baking Company, and enjoyed working with the public and her co-workers.
Her favorite pastimes were quilting, sewing, bingo club, camping, and gardening. She enjoyed spending time with her family, neighbors, and friends, along with spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Karen will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Barbara and her husband, Mike Giles of Apex, N.C.; son, Russell White and his wife, Diana of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; daughter, Bonnie and her husband, Brian Rusch of Holstein, Iowa; son, Randy White and his wife, Rosann of Holly Springs, N.C.; brother, Robert Anderson and his wife, Nellie May of South Sioux City; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nephew, David Anderson; and niece, Kimm (Andy) Rinner.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard M. White; parents, Fred and Doris Anderson; grandparents, Harry and Minnie Postlewait; her uncle and aunt, Roy and Marian Postlewait; and cousin, Beverly Hey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to June Nylen Cancer Center or Riverside Lutheran Church.
