Karen Jean Wilmot, 71, of Sioux City died on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Karen was born on Oct. 8, 1942, in Sioux City. She was the daughter of Edwin and Catherine (Roth) Johme. She was raised in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1961.
On Sept. 23, 1961, she married Lewis Wilmot in Sioux City. Karen worked at Aalfs Manufacturing, TCBY, Pesch Optical, Gateway and helped her husband operate the Midway Inn.
Karen belonged to the Four Seasons Health Club, and she loved doing crafting including ceramics. She also enjoyed golfing, doing yard work, going on walks and fishing, but what she loved most was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Lewis of Sioux City; her daughter, Kellie Wilmot of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Jacie and Brandon Throckmorton, Sterling Tronson, Kelcie Tronson and her fiancé, Adam Bowles, and Zachery Tronson; four great-grandchildren, Dylan, Braelynn, Kadyn and Brooklynn; two brothers, Ronald and Bonnie Johme of Sioux City, and Douglas and Donna Johme of Woodland Park, FLa.; her sister, Judy and Robert Brandt of Sioux City; and her brother-in-law, Don Wilmot and his companion, Mary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters-in-law, Ella (Beavers) Johme and Jackie Wilmot; and her in-laws, Wallace and Phyllis Wilmot.
