SIOUX CITY -- Karla Jean Clarke, 51, of Sioux City died Aug. 2, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Sunnybrook Community Church, with the Rev. Jeff A. Ream, worship arts director, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes. Online condolences may be sent to

Karla Jean was born on Aug. 10, 1959, in Algona, Iowa, daughter of Richard and Lorraine (Stone) Parsons. She was raised in the Fort Dodge, Iowa area. She graduated from Fort Dodge High School in Fort Dodge. She moved to Sioux City in 1987.
She married Michael A. Clarke on Jan. 7, 1988, in Sioux City. She was employed at Qwest in customer service for a number of years. She then became a Certified Nurse's Assistant, working for Home Health Care. She graduated from Western Iowa Tech with her degree in General Studies in July 2011.
She was a member of Sunnybrook Community Church. She loved reading and working Sudoku puzzles. She also enjoyed growing flowers and going to rummage sales and auctions. But, most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Michael of Sioux City; her daughter, Laurel Clarke of Sioux City; her mother, Lorraine Mc Clelland of Lehi, Iowa; six brothers, Chuck, Richard, Terry, Ron and Sam Parsons, all of the Fort Dodge area, and David Parsons of Colorado; two sisters, Trudy Anderson of Red Oak, Iowa, and Rhonda Kutnick of Fort Dodge; her mother-in-law, Mary A. Clarke of Sioux City; a brother-in-law and his wife, David and Becky Clarke of Sioux City; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Patricia Parsons.
