Katherine M. Hovde, 75, died Friday, January 21, 2022, at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City, IA.
A funeral service will be 11:00 am Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel, 1801 Morningside Ave., with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.christysmith.com .
Katherine M. Hennessey, the daughter of Alfred and Dorothy (Mohler) Hennessey was born June 23, 1946, in Sioux City, IA. She graduated from East High School.
On April 7, 1978, Katherine was united in marriage with David Hovde in Elk Point, SD. She worked at S.S. Coe Printing as a bookkeeper and receptionist.
Katherine enjoyed music, sewing, reading, and watching TV.
Katherine is survived by her husband, David of Sioux City; daughter, Deborah Swinford of Pittsboro, IN; step-children, Shawn (Charity) Hovde of Sioux City, Eric Hovde of Bronson, IA; six grandchildren; sisters, Betty Jorgensen of Paulden, AZ, Judy Wilks of Lewisville, TX; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Hennessey and Dorothy Paul, and a sister, Mary Francis.
The family has requested that memorials be directed to Hospice of Siouxland, Sunrise Retirement Community, or the Gospel Mission.
