Kathleen Ann Mathewson

Kathleen Ann Mathewson, 72, of Sioux City, died Friday, June 15, 2018, at a local hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Kathleen was born on Aug. 5, 1945, in Sioux City, to Frank and Gertude (Kleve) Bornhorst. Then later adopted by Chris Christensen when he married Gertrude. She attended Sergeant Bluff schools.
She was united in marriage with Dennis Mathewson on Sept. 4, 1964 in Sioux City. This union was blessed with two children. She formerly worked at Sunshine Grocers, and also at a printing company.
She enjoyed her quilting, woodworking and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis of Sioux City; her son, Chris and his wife, Ronda of Peoria, Ill.; her daughter, Debra Anguiano and her husband, Larry of Sioux City; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Bruce Kaderka.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center to honor Kathleen's name.
