Kathleen A. "Kathy" Schwartz, 70, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, at a local hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Kathy was born on July 18, 1945, in Tacoma, Wash., to Willard McDaniel and Winona (Coleman) Maesner. Kathy married David Schwartz on Nov. 16, 1974, in Sioux City, where they made their home. She worked as a cook at Morningside College, Safeway and Sunshine Foods until its closing and she then worked at Hy-Vee.
Kathy was a member of the Eagles and enjoyed bingo, camping, and fishing. She adored her grandkids and they loved their "Nana."
Survivors include her husband, David Schwartz of Sioux City; a son, Kevin (Kim) Schwartz of Homer, Neb.; daughter, Cyndi (Sheldon) Koeppe of Ponca, Neb.; son, Keith Schwartz of Fort Dodge, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jeff Maesner and Ronnie Maesner, both of Seattle, Wash., and Bruce McDaniel and Timothy McDaniel, both of Star City, Ark.; and sisters, Debbie Bryne, Paula White and Cynthia Chadwick, all of Star City, Ark. and Frances Stucks of Glendale, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Art Maesner; stepmother, Jo McDaniel; sister, Bev Edson; brother, Michael McDaniel; and grandson, Francis Palmersheim.
