Sioux City, IA – Kathy S. Perera, 69, died Saturday, July 2, 2022, at a local nursing home in Sioux City, IA.
A visitation will be 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel, 1801 Morningside Ave. A funeral service will be 11:00 am Monday, July 11, 2022, at Christy Smith, Morningside, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Kathy Sue Ouellette, the daughter of Robert and Mary Ouellette was born August 27, 1952, in Sioux City, IA. She graduated from East High School in 1970.
In 1970, Kathy was united in marriage with Douglas Perera in South Sioux City, NE. She worked in Shipping and Receiving at Jolly Time Popcorn for almost 30 years before her retirement. Douglas died October 31, 2015.
Kathy was a very active person. She loved playing softball, volleyball, bowling and was a member of a pool league. Kathy traveled to many countries for her vacations. Kathy’s favorite times were spending time around the swimming pool.
Kathy is survived by her children, Brenda Miller, Mark Perera, and Tim (Connie) Perera, all of Sioux City; five grandchildren; siblings, Leonard Ouellette of Des Moines, IA, Carol Bennett of Auburn, NE, Bill (Rachel) Ouellette of Sioux City, David Ouellette of Dakota City, NE, Jimmy Ouellette of Tulsa, OK; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Earl and Emma Ouellette; brother-in-law, Doug Bennett; sisters-in-law, Debbie Ouellette and Victoria Ouellette; and former husband, Douglas.
