SIOUX CITY -- Kathy Renee Tibbetts, 55, of Sioux City died Sunday, June 14, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Gary B. Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Northside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Kathy was born Sept. 8, 1953, in Sioux City, the daughter of Donald E. and Margaret A. (Washburn) Blassl. She graduated from East High School in 1971. She was a lifelong Sioux City resident.
She married Daniel J. Tibbetts on Aug. 30, 1975, in Sioux City. She was employed as an operator for Northwestern Bell, then as a teller at the Sioux Valley Credit Union. At the time of her passing, she was employed as a bookkeeper for Accent Timbers.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. She enjoyed bingo. She also did crafts such as sewing, knitting, crocheting and creating wooden stickpins. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel J. Tibbetts of Sioux City; her daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and James Sturgeon of Sioux City; three sons and their wives, Marcus and Tina Tibbetts of South Sioux City, Christopher and Heather Tibbetts of Ponca, Neb., and Jason and Amanda Tibbetts of Merrill, Iowa; her sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Ben Fort of Seneca, Mo.; two brothers and their wives, Richard and Julie Blassl of West Des Moines and Donald and Deborah Blassl of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren, Anthony Sturgeon, Brooklyn Sturgeon, Samantha Tibbetts, Tayler Tibbetts, Justin Carmona, Lorena Carmona and Michael Sturgeon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Gerald Blassl.
Pallbearers will be Ken Snyder, Ben Fort, Greg McCartney, Donnie Jorgenson, Justin Carmona and Shawn Hartman.
