Kay Frances Miller, 83, of Moville, passed away Friday, March 18, 2016, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville, with the Rev. Brad Pelzel officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery in Moville. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary at 6 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are with McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville.
Kay was born Dec. 20, 1932, in Sioux City, the daughter of Charles F. and Violet B. Slattery. She was raised in Sioux City and graduated from East High School.
On Feb. 11, 1954, she married Norman "Bud" Miller at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville. The couple made their home in the Lawton, Iowa, and Moville area. They built homes in Lawton, in the country and in Moville.
After they retired, Bud and Kay loved to travel and made it to all 50 states.
Kay was a member of the Moville American Legion Auxiliary and a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
When her children were active in 4-H, Kay was a 4-H leader. She loved cooking, baking, gardening and sewing.
After the death of her beloved husband, Bud, on Jan. 8, 2012, Kay moved to Bickford Cottage in Sioux City where she received loving care from the staff and residents.
Survivors include her children, Denise (Gary) Boucher of Modesto, Calif., Scott (Jill) Miller of Colfax, Iowa, Diane (Casper) Noz of Denair, Calif., Deb (David) Leckband of Moville, Steve (Shawna) Miller of Waterford, Calif., and Dawn (Jim) Orr of Sherwood, Ore.; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Mary Johnson of Sioux City and Zoe Ann Mc Quade of Sergeant Bluff; and a special nephew, Leo (Geri) Miller of Moville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud; and her brothers, William and Donald.
