Keith Walter Toben, 25, of Ames, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 29, 2008, in Ames.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City, with Bill McKee officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8:30 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com .

Keith was born March 11, 1983, in Sioux City, the son of Jack Toben and Mary (McKee) Green. He was raised in Sioux City, where he attended Riverview Elementary, West Middle and West High Schools. He had worked several jobs including warehouse for Chesterman Bottling Co. and most recently on the production line at the lamb processing plant in Hawarden, Iowa. He had lived off and on in Ames and Sioux City until moving to Ames three months ago.

He had attended Riverside Lutheran Church. His hobbies included fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends. He was a loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his father, Jack Toben and his special friend, Dot McClure of Sioux City; his mother and her husband, Mary and Parris Green of Ames; two brothers, Dustin and Jessica Toben of Sioux City and John Toben of Sioux City; a sister, Rebecca Toben of Sioux City; three stepsisters, Aubrey Green and family and Austyn Green of Sioux City and Kelly Frye of Raleigh, N.C.; three stepbrothers, Marine Staff Sgt. Judson Manthey of Okinawa, Japan, Corey Frye and Kyle Frye, both of Sioux City; paternal grandparents, John Toben Jr. of Akron, Iowa, and Arlene Toben of Sioux City; and maternal grandfather, Paul Lockhorst of Hawarden, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Melvin McKee and Geraldine "Geri" Lockhorst; and a cousin, Christy Wetrosky.
