SIOUX CITY -- Kenneth "Kenny" Hoag, 58, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., after a courageous fight with a lengthy illness.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, 1801 Morningside Ave., with Pastor Kevin Lee officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Kenny was born June 3, 1950, in Vermillion, S.D. He graduated from East High School in Sioux City. He attended Western Iowa Tech and obtained a certificate in truck driving. He also served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was an honored veteran.
Kenny loved karaoke, laughing, fishing, motorcycling and spending time with his family and his beloved dog, Taco. He was a great story teller and always had something funny to share with people. His latest love was his new granddaughter, Felicity.
Survivors include his children, Glen and his fiancee, Rosanna of Sioux City, Mark Hoag of Valley City, N.D., and Kathy and Shawn Chegwidden of Grand Forks Air Base, N.D.; and Linda O'Hagan, his very special friend and partner of the last 10 years. He enjoyed being grandpa to Felicity, Cindy and Kevin. He will also be missed by his mother, Alma; his brothers, Danny (Charlotte), Tom (Carol) and John (Judy), all of Kansas City; his sister, Copper (Alan) Cole of Plano, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard; his sister, Beverly; and his youngest brother, Russell.
