SIOUX CITY -- Kurt A. Dickerson, 50, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 15, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Schmidt of Augustana Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to

Kurt was born in December 7, 1958, in Sioux City, to Richard and Udith (Townsend) Dickerson. He attended Sioux City schools and later attended Western Iowa Tech Community College. He was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. He was currently employed with Bomgaars in the warehouse. He had also worked in oil rigs in New Orleans, La.
He was baptized in the Lutheran faith. He enjoyed fishing, finding treasures with his metal detector, joking and conversing at gatherings with family and friends. He also enjoyed spending time with Kathy and bike riding. He lived life in his own way.
Survivors include Kathy Dickerson of Sioux City; daughters, Kimberly Gray of Ida Grove, Iowa, Sara Gray of Texas, and Amanda Dickerson and significant other, James Barker of Sioux City; a son, Wayne Soredraer of Onawa, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and his siblings, Richard Dickerson of Louisville, Ky., Gary Townsend and Vineta Knudsen of West Point, Neb., Deborah Mead-Smith of Pierson, Iowa, Kevin Dickerson and Misty Prichard of Sioux City, his twin brother, Kruse and Linda Dickerson of Dry Ridge, Ky., and Delores and Jim Brownlee of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William Townsend and Marvin Dickerson; and a sister, Roxane Dickerson.
