SIOUX CITY -- Larry L. Johnson, 58, of Sioux City passed away July 8, 2011, at his residence, following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sylvia Kennedy from Rustin Ave. United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Larry was born on May 5, 1953, in Sioux City to John and Letha (Riordan) Johnson. He grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City East High School. He had remained a lifelong resident of Sioux City.
He married Cynthia Dreas on Feb. 16, 1974, at the Rustin Ave. United Methodist Church in Sioux City. Larry worked for Metz Bakery for 18 years before retiring in 1996 due to health reasons.
He loved fishing, was an Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed sports of all nature, golf, pool, bowling, fishing and playing ball.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy of Sioux City; two children, Larry Johnson II and Melissa Johnson, both of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Caleb, Cameron and Kaydence; his mother, Letha Johnson; a brother, John Johnson of Sioux City; and two sisters Judy and Dick Winkel of Sioux City, and Jean Johnson of Des Moines, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Duane Johnson.
