Larry Walker, 72, of Moville passed away Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, after a lengthy illness.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Moville, with Neil Peck officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a Masonic service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are with Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Larry was born Oct. 18, 1943, in Holstein, Iowa, to George Lewis "Lew" and Rosalie Maude Walker. As a young man he moved to Moville and graduated from Moville High School in 1961.
He married Marcia Clausen on Dec. 9, 1961, at First Lutheran Church in Kingsley, Iowa.
Larry retired after careers with the USDA Soil Conservation Service, and 23 years with the United States Postal Service.
Larry was a charter member of Meadows Golf Course in Moville, and the Jaycees. He umpired little league and high school baseball for a number of years. He was one of the first three EMT volunteers on the Moville ambulance squad, along with being a volunteer fireman for many years. He was a member of Trial Lodge 532, AF and AM, the Sioux City Scottish-Rite, where he was designated with the Honour of Knight Commander of the Court of Honour, and Abu Bekr Shrine, belonging to several units.
He enjoyed his retirement years by following his grandkids in their activities, rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes, and being active in Abu Bekr Shrine.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia; three sons, Kirk (Nancy) of Bellevue, Neb., Kyle (Nancy) of Wheaton, Ill., and Kelly of Moville; two brothers, Ronald (Jan) Walker of Ankeny, Iowa, and Russ (Muriel) Walker of Moville; a sister-in-law, Marilyn (Keith) Richardson of Kingsley; four brothers-in-law, Clair (Darnell) Clausen of Apache Junction, Ariz., Larry (Sharon) Clausen of Spencer, Iowa, Dennis (Debbie) Clausen of Ida Grove, Iowa, and Darold (Carolyn) Clausen of York, S.C.; six grandchildren, Alex (Olivia) and Alissa Walker, Cecilia and Nicholas Walker, and Austin and Tyler Walker; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and his wife, Loren and Karen; an infant sister, Barbara; his in-laws, Bill and Marcella Clausen; and a nephew, Randy Walker.
