McCOOK LAKE, S.D. -- Laurie Ann (Rarrat) Messner, 47, of McCook Lake passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital surrounded by her loving family.
The body will be cremated. Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.
Laurie was born Feb. 24, 1960, in Sioux City, the daughter of Fred and Eleanore Rose (Machura) Rarrat. She attended Heelan High School. She later moved to Mathis, Texas, where she lived for many years. She recently resided in Le Mars, Iowa.
She will always be remembered for her compassion, kindness and friendship to those who were in need. Her wonderful sense of humor brought sunshine to all who knew her.
Survivors include her mother, Eleanore (Rarrat) Cantrell; her stepfather, Tim Cantrell; her children, Jaison Clinkenbeard of Sioux City and Michael Cornila of Hillsdale, Mich.; six grandchildren; three brothers and their wives, Fred and Carrissa Rarrat of Sioux City, Michael and Karla Rarrat of Sandia, Texas, and Joseph and Patty Rarrat of Jefferson, S.D.; three sisters and their husbands, Cindy and Tim Simons of Jefferson, S.D., Christina and Rick Rodgers of Mathis, Texas, and Rebecca and Kevin Parks of Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Rarrat; and grandparents, Eleanore and August Machura and Helen and Joseph Rarrat.
