Lavoy E. Wriedt, age 79, of Jefferson, SD, passed away Friday, August 5, 2022, in Sioux City, IA.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at Christy-Smith Resource Center upon return from Memorial Park. Masks are optional for attendees of the service.

Lavoy was born on June 30, 1943, in Sioux City, IA. He attained a bachelor and master’s degrees in Mathematics from the University of South Dakota and Missouri University of Science and Technology (MST) respectively.
On April 6, 1966, he married Judy Nielsen in Harlan, IA. The couple made their home in Jefferson, SD, where Lavoy was a farmer.
He was an active member of the community as a 4-H leader in Union County and a member of the Union County Pork Producers.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Wriedt; son, Tim Wriedt and Marga Wriedt, their children, Joseph, Eleanor, and Charles; son, Ed Wriedt and Tracy Wriedt, their children, Victoria and Nicole; daughter, Tammy Campbell and Brad Campbell, their children, Autumn and Ian; son, Nathan Wriedt and Amy Wriedt, their children, Nolan and Austin; brother, Louis Wriedt and Mary Wriedt, their children, Lorinda and Darin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and LuVerne Wriedt; and sister, LaVonne.
