SIOUX CITY -- Lawrence P. "Larry" Carpenter, 59, of Big Spring, Texas, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, in Colorado City, Texas.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Jackson, Neb. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to christysmith.com.
Larry was born Sept. 22, 1950, to Francis and Louise (Brady) Carpenter. He was raised in the Sioux City area and attended Sioux City schools. He later moved to the Minneapolis area and started working for Honeywell Industries.
Later, he worked for Toro and at several various manufacturing companies in the Minneapolis area until his retirement. He later moved to the Big Spring, Texas, area about three years ago. Due to health reasons, he moved to Colorado City, Texas, six months ago.
He was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed camping, hiking, traveling, bicycling, music and he loved his cats.
Survivors include his siblings, Joe Carpenter of Moville, Iowa, Mary Louise and Jerry Owings of Sioux City, David and Darlene Carpenter of Prescott, Ariz., and Patty Youngstrom of Milford, Iowa; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
