Lawrence Eugene "Larry" Meylor

Lawrence Eugene "Larry" Meylor, 75, of Sioux City, formerly of Sloan, Iowa, passed away Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home in Sioux City.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Salix, Iowa, with the Rev. Dennis Meinen of Holy Spirit officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Larry Eugene Meylor was born March 4, 1932, in Plymouth County, Iowa, to Leonard and Elva (Dugan) Meylor. He attended and graduated from high school in Kingsley, Iowa, with the class of 1951.

He and Donna Marie Puttmann were united in marriage on Oct. 29, 1955, in Kingsley. He was employed with Western Engineering in Harlan, Iowa, and MidAmerican Energy in Sioux City, retiring in 1994.

He enjoyed gardening, John Deere tractors, McDonald's hamburgers and chocolate shakes. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and always found a way to make them laugh.

He is survived by his wife, Donna of Sioux City; his daughters and their husbands, Mary Jo and Tim Prince of Sloan, Iowa, Julie and Todd Henrich of Pierson, Iowa, Susan and Brad Fenley of Mesquite, Texas, and Jackie and Tom Hunter of Sloan; sons and their wives, Marty and Julie of Scurry, Texas, and Tony and Sherri of Whiting, Iowa; 17 grandchildren, Adam and his wife, Roxanne, Zac, Amanda and Lyndi Henrich, Brett, Andy and Katie Jo Prince, Ashlee and her husband, Barry Worrell, Jessica and Amy Hunter, Jacob, Matthew and Megan Fenley, Lee, Trevor, Alex and Sam Meylor; a great-granddaughter, Kennedy Reid Henrich; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Irwin of Sioux City and Helen Meylor of Vermillion, S.D.; a brother-in-law and his wife, Ray and Donna Puttmann of Battle Creek, Iowa; nieces, nephews and other relatives; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, L. Patrick Meylor; and grandsons, Kyle Henrich and Daniel Fenley.
