Leon Popevis, 74, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021 at his home.

Leon Popevis was born October 14, 1946 in Sioux City, Iowa to Joe and Beulah (Casper) Popevis. He grew up and lived in Sioux City. He attended Heelen High School and Morningside College.
He married Bernice Demke in 1969 in Waterbury, Nebraska. He worked for IBP for 20 years in Safety and Health and then for National Beef for 24 years as the Vice President of Safety and Health. He was also a member of the Safety and Health Organization for the United Nations.
Leon was a huge Husker fan, watching all the games. His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren.
Leon is survived by his wife, Bernie; children, Joe (Mindy) and Michelle (Craig); grandchildren, Christian, Madi, Ryker, Scarlett, and Evangeline; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dennis (Kay); and many nieces and nephews.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Leon.
