SIOUX CITY -- Leonard O. Hogen, 89, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Alan Wicks officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to

Leonard was born Dec. 3, 1918, in Sioux City. He attended Sioux City schools and graduated from East High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On June 17, 1943, he married Mildred H. Chesshir in South Sioux City. She died July 9, 2007, in Sioux City. He worked at Robert's Dairy in Sioux City for many years.
He was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church and was very active in the couples group. He also volunteered his time for many church projects. He enjoyed golfing, but what he enjoyed most was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by a daughter, Janice Katres of Jacksonville, Fla.; a son Kirk Hogen of Vermillion, S.D.; five grandchildren, Todd Katres, Tanya Ashe, Alison Willroth, Brett Hogen and Jake Hogen; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Gary; a son-in-law, Michael Katres; and a sister, Eleanor Hogen.
