Linda Kaye Gregg, 62, of Sioux City passed away peacefully Friday, July 25, 2008, at her daughter's residence with her family around her, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Guenther officiating. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 4 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Linda was born in Sioux City on May 4, 1946, the daughter of Toge E. and Bernice D. (Angerman) Newman. She was raised in Sioux City and graduated from East High School.
She married Rodney Gregg on June 10, 1966, in Lawton, Iowa. She worked at the Palmer House and the Flamingo Inn. She also worked as a blackjack dealer.
She was a member of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed going on road trips, spending time with her family and friends and admiring the scenery. She was an avid fisherman and mushroom hunter. She was a great artist. She did several paintings and sketches. She enjoyed interior decorating and had a great imagination.
She is survived by Rodney Gregg Sr. of Sioux City; three children, Rodney Jr. of Sioux City, Shawna and Robert Hasler of Sioux City and Dustin and Jackie Gregg of South Sioux City; 12 grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Marvin and Sharon Newman of Pella, Iowa, Michael and Beverly Newman of Iowa City, Iowa, Pat and Michael Archer of Sioux City, Butch and Marsha Newman of Sioux City, Jimmy Newman and Sue Spence of Le Mars, Iowa, and Susan and Steve Klover of Richland, Wash.; many nieces and nephews; and too many cousins to count.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard; and a sister, Rosemary Newman.
