Linda Lee Potter, 67, of Sioux City died Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 6 p.m. Wednesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, 1801 Morningside Ave., in Sioux City. The Rev. Verlyn Shaap of the Friendship Community Church will officiate. Visitation with the family will be 5 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Linda was born Oct. 18, 1947, in Sioux City, the daughter of Lou Cook and Violet (Ferris) Cook. She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. She attended Riverside Grade School and Central High School.
Linda married Ross Henry Potter Jr. on July 25, 1965, the love of her life her (soldier boy). The couple were married 43 years before he passed in 2008.
She was active with the Girl Scouts of America when her girls participated in scouting and was also a baker for many years. Linda loved camping, cooking, and doing arts, crafts and painting, and was very religious. What Linda was known for and what she loved most was giving unconditional love to her children, grandchildren and all her extended family. She was an active member of the Friendship Community Church in Sergeant Bluff.
Surviving are Charlotte Doyle-McNinich and spouse of Cozad, Neb., Ross Henry Potter, III of Sioux City, Cheyenne Pedroza and her spouse of Sioux City, Patricia Potter of Sioux City, and Thomas Potter of Sioux City; 14 grandchildren, Angel, Tracy, Kayla, Samantha, Kassaundra, Allicen, Molly, Ellaina, Emilly, Lexi, Seth, Kora, Trinity and Liviya; 13 great-grandchildren; her last and surviving sister, Lila Barklind of Sioux City; her brother-in-law, Robert "Bob" Potter of Missouri; along with many nephews and nieces and cousins that she was close and grew up with, such as Erving "Bimbo" Scott and Dee Coon; and lastly and most importantly in her life her dog, Pugs.
Linda followed in the death of her husband, Ross Potter Jr.; her parents; her mother-in-law, Rosie Hair; her older sisters, Margaret "Peggy" and Betty; a sister, Mary; younger brothers, Harold "Corky", Vern and Bill; and granddaughter, Ebonie Potter.
