MOVILLE, Iowa -- Lois M. Nash, 86, of Moville died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at Whispering Creek Active Retirement Community in Sioux City.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville.
Lois was born May 20, 1925, in Sioux City, the daughter of Roy "Whitey" and Judith (Carlson) Larsen. She grew up and attended school in Sioux City, graduating from Central High School in 1943. Lois continued her education at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., and later at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, where she pledged Gamma Phi Beta.
She married Harold Nash on Dec. 29, 1948, at Dayton, Ohio. Together they made their home north of Moville on the family farm. They moved into Moville in 1987.
Lois was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Moville Women's Club. She served on the YWCA Board of Directors and was active with Chapter HZ of PEO in Sioux City. Lois played bridge in Moville and enjoyed reading, cooking, playing the piano and traveling.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce Nash of Kingsley, Iowa, and Kurt and Ann Nash of Moville; a daughter, Barbara and Lyle Kesl of Ames, Iowa; two grandchildren, Emily and Jamey Lloyd of Phoenix, Ariz., and James and Sheena Nash of Kingsley; three great-grandchildren, Jayden Lloyd, Grayson Lloyd and Beau Nash; two sisters, Judy and Don Croston and Gloria Carnes, all of Omaha; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Kurt and Ty.
