Lois J. Redden, 84, died Thursday, May 25, 2017, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be prior to services beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Lois Jeanette Williams was born June 3, 1932 in Arthur, Iowa, and was raised by her beloved mother, Marie E. Williams. She graduated from East High School in 1950.
On Dec. 5, 1951, Lois was united in marriage with Eugene L. Redden at Grace United Methodist Church in Sioux City. Lois followed Eugene throughout his career in the United States Navy while keeping a home and raising their two daughters. Later in life, she was employed at The Daily Reporter, proofreading and doing the paper setup.
Lois was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Morningside Chapter 502 Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and cooking. Lois was quite a seamstress and made several beautiful quilts for her family.
Lois is survived by two daughters, Lynette (Douglas) Phillips of Sioux City, and Virginia “Ginny” Redden of Omaha; three grandchildren, Marie (Matt) Divis, Kristina (Terry) Reed and Karla (Nick) Moore; and four great-grandchildren, Garrett Divis, Carson Divis, Morgan Divis and Henry Moore.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Marie; husband, Eugene; brother and sister-in-law, John and Jeannette Williams; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Joe Bengford; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Verdeen and Mike Corey; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley and Wayne Bynum.
The family has requested that memorials be directed to Pioneer Valley Living and Rehab in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, and Home Instead Senior Care Foundation.
